E-Land Retail said on the 26th that it will expand NC Basic—the fashion label it launched in September 2023—into a retailer-operated SPA (integrated manufacturing and distribution) model.

The company plans to double down on NC Basic’s biggest advantage—value—and grow its category mix and store footprint to go after the retail SPA market in earnest.

NC Basic will reopen its first concept store on March 1 on the first floor of the NC Songpa location, occupying 198㎡ (about 2,131 sq ft).

Billed as “Urban Basic Wear,” the brand will broaden its apparel assortment and add innerwear, loungewear, and accessories, presenting roughly 130 items in total.

Under the concept “WEAR THE BEST, EVERY DAY,” NC Basic will offer a broad seasonal color palette and a lineup that covers everything from denim-forward everyday pieces and polished office looks to workout-ready activewear and cozy at-home loungewear.

E-Land’s retail SPA approach means it designs and manufactures fashion lines in-house and sells them through its own channels, giving it tight cost control and distinctive price competitiveness.

With a network that includes department stores, outlets, and large supermarkets, E-Land can quickly get reasonably priced products to customers across multiple channels.

Retailers around the world are adopting similar private-brand strategies. Examples include Macy’s and Walmart in the U.S., Tesco in the U.K., and AEON in Japan.

Even amid the industry’s struggles with the so-called “three highs” (high interest rates, high inflation, and a strong exchange rate), NC Basic resonated with value-seeking shoppers and posted sales in the 100 hundred million KRW range (about $7,500,000).
