[Herald Business=Reporter Kim Seong-hoon] Singer-actress Son Dam-bi personally handed out handwritten apology notes and rice cakes to neighbors after worrying that a three-month home renovation had caused disruptive noise.
On the 8th, she posted a video to her YouTube channel, “DambiSon,” showing herself packing the rice cakes and small gifts for neighbors.
Son said the renovation, which lasted three months, had produced some noise. She apologized to the neighbors living below and explained she had intended to finish sooner but became swamped after unexpectedly joining a drama.
She ordered the rice cakes from a well-known shop and included a sincere, handwritten apology letter.
Previously, Son lived for about three years in a luxury home in Yongsan, Seoul, paying 10,000,000 KRW per month (approximately $7,500) in rent and 800,000 KRW (approximately $600) in maintenance fees, before moving in February. The high rent attracted attention; reportedly even her in-laws asked, “Are you paying 10,000,000 won in rent?”
She has since moved into a duplex villa and said she plans a full remodel that will include removing interior walls.
Son married former national speed skater Lee Kyu-hyuk in 2022 and welcomed their daughter, Hae-e, last April.
Recently, actress Ki Eun-se faced similar neighbor complaints over noise and parking during construction at her Pyeongchang-dong home; she later sent apology DMs to residents and shared photos of herself cleaning up.
