[Herald Economy=Jang Yoon-woo] Actress Go So-young pulled out an unopened Chanel bag and confessed she regretted the impulse buy.
On the 12th, Go posted a video to her YouTube channel titled “Go So-young, the Human Chanel: My Wardrobe, Revealed for the First Time in 35 Years.” She gave viewers a tour of a closet packed with luxury pieces she’s been collecting for more than 30 years.
“I bought a lot because I got swept up in herd mentality,” she said as she produced a purple, heart-shaped Chanel bag. “I felt anxious, thinking I should have at least one. I worried I’d fall behind if I didn’t.”
She added that seeing the bag everywhere — popping up in recommendation algorithms and on photos of popular influencers — felt like gaslighting, so she’s making an effort to avoid that kind of content now.
Go said she’s determined to curb impulse buys. “If I can hold off for about two weeks, the urge usually fades,” she explained.
She also revealed a pink Chanel beachwear set and admitted she’s never used it because it felt too precious to spread out on the sand. “It’s for Instagram,” she laughed. “You lie down in your swimsuit, put on the hat, take the photo, then say, ‘Hey, hurry and shake the sand off.'” She sighed and said she should probably quit Instagram.
The video also features Chanel bags she inherited from her mother and aunt, as well as the first Birkin she bought with money she earned in her early twenties.
