Recently, someone claiming to be a relative of a Pyeongchang-dong resident posted online that they’ve been dealing with months of disruption from the ongoing renovation at Ki Eun-se’s house.
The poster said they had just returned to their parents’ home in Pyeongchang-dong after living in the U.S. and found the scene next door shocking. \”They say actress ‘ㄱㅇㅅ’ is moving in and have been renovating for months,\” the writer said. \”Construction vehicles have taken over the alley in front of the house, so it’s difficult for even one car to pass. My parents are quietly putting up with it.\”
The post didn’t explicitly name Ki Eun-se, but many connected the initials to her after she uploaded a video of the Pyeongchang-dong construction site to her personal YouTube channel in March.
The poster added that the timeline kept changing—first mid-April, then mid-May, and now \”we don’t know when it will end.\” \”It feels like they’re trying to shrug off these disruptions because they’re a celebrity,\” they wrote. \”Shouldn’t they at least show basic consideration and courtesy to neighbors?\”
Two days after the original post, the writer said they received an apology via direct message. They expressed frustration that no action was taken when they first raised the issue and that authorities only began to move afterward.
They also said the construction is expected to continue through May 15, followed by separate parking-lot work. \”I hope the project wraps up with mutual consideration,\” they wrote.
Ki Eun-se, born in 1983, married a Korean-American businessman 12 years her junior in 2012; the couple divorced in 2023.
