Renowned chef Choi Kang-rok dished out his hot take on Japanese cuisine in the latest episode of “Sikdeokhu” (Food Enthusiast).
The sixth installment of the mouthwatering web series “Sikdeokhu,” which dropped on the YouTube channel ‘Theo’ on the afternoon of the 5th, took viewers on a veggie-filled adventure through Kyoto with Choi as our culinary guide.
Cameras followed Choi as he embarked on a quest to uncover Kyoto’s vegetable treasures. Kicking things off at the Ohara farm produce market, he sampled an array of Japanese veggies, serving up some serious veggie appreciation along the way.
Things got interesting when the production team turned to ChatGPT for some veggie wisdom, coming up with the phrase “Kyoto vegetables speak with water, not fire.” Choi’s response? “Japanese cuisine is all about the water.” He elaborated, “To enjoy raw ingredients, you’ve got to wash them thoroughly. With just water, a cutting board, and a knife, you can whip up a pretty decent Japanese dish. That’s the gist of it, anyway – though it’s not always that simple.”
In other news, Chef Choi recently made a comeback on Netflix’s reality cooking competition “Black & White Chefs: Culinary Class War Season 2,” where he snagged the top spot and was crowned champion.
