Chungnam-Sejong Nonghyup celebrated Baekseolgi Day at the Korea Rural Community Corporation’s Chungnam regional headquarters, handing out baekseolgi rice cakes to staff.
On March 12, Chungnam-Sejong Nonghyup hosted the “2026 Happy Baekseolgi Day to Share Love” for employees of the Korea Rural Community Corporation’s Chungnam regional office. The event distributed baekseolgi—traditional rice cakes made from domestically grown rice—to about 500 employees.
The gathering included Jung Hae-ung, head of the Nonghyup Central Association’s Chungnam-Sejong office; Oh Joo-hyun, head of NH Nonghyup Bank’s Chungnam office; and Park Jae-geun, head of the Korea Rural Community Corporation’s Chungnam regional headquarters. Attendees chose baekseolgi over candy to promote Korean rice consumption and to spotlight the importance of eating breakfast.
The event aimed to honor the spirit of the holiday while encouraging more people to choose Korean rice. Through Baekseolgi Day, Nonghyup is working to boost rice consumption and promote healthier eating habits.
“As Baekseolgi Day marks its 15th anniversary, it has become a moment to reflect on the value of Korean rice,” Jung Hae-ung said. “We will continue our efforts to foster a culture of rice consumption.”
Baekseolgi Day, established in 2012 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and Nonghyup, encourages people to share baekseolgi made from Korean rice instead of candy on White Day, March 14.
