Busan’s department stores are rolling out fresh draws — from refreshed local food brands to new global fashion labels — to reel in shoppers.
◇ Shinsegae Department Store Centum City unveils a refreshed Samjin Eomuk, Busan’s beloved fish-cake brand
On the 13th, Shinsegae Department Store Centum City opened a renovated Samjin Eomuk shop in its B1 food hall.
Samjin Eomuk began in 1953 as a tiny stall in Bongnae Market on Yeongdo, Busan. What started as street food has been elevated into a premium snack and a popular gift item, earning the brand its reputation as a local culinary icon. Shinsegae Centum City has supported the brand beyond the storefront, promoting it through the live-commerce show “Shinbaek Live” and shopping news segments to broaden its reach.
To celebrate the relaunch, the store is offering 30% off its seafood assorted fish cakes through the 22nd. Shoppers who spend 20,000 KRW (approximately $15) or more will get a limited-edition fish-cake scrubber from a collaboration with Scrub Daddy — limited to 50 pieces per day.
