[Photo: Im Seong-geun / Herald Muse] Chef Im Seong-geun has started interior renovations as he prepares to open his restaurant.

Chef Im posted on the 19th, “Some of you have been asking about the Jjageuli House opening, so here’s a quick update,” adding, “We received occupancy approval for the building yesterday and have begun the interior work.”

He apologized for the long delay and promised to use the extra time to prepare thoroughly so he can welcome guests soon with excellent food and top-notch service.

He also said he plans to post photos of the interior progress from time to time.

Additionally, he’s recruiting staff and is encouraging applicants who live near Paju and Ilsan to apply.

In a newly released video, Chef Im said, “It’s been a while. We finally got the completion permit and have started the interior work,” and vowed, “After such a long wait, we’ll do everything we can to serve you the best food.”

Earlier, Chef Im attracted attention after finishing among the final seven on Netflix’s reality series Black & White Chefs 2.

But he ignited controversy after revealing on his YouTube channel that he had been penalized three times in the past for driving under the influence.

Subsequent reports added two traffic violations from 1998 and 1999 and noted a fine for a mutual assault incident, which intensified criticism.

With his broadcasting activities effectively limited, observers are watching to see whether Chef Im can rebuild public trust through his restaurant opening.

Below is Chef Im’s full statement.
