In the ninth episode of the MBN variety show ‘The Ultimate Bake-Off’, airing the night of the 29th, the TOP7 — Hwang Ji-o, Lee Kyung-mu, Kim Jin-seo, Kim Si-yeop, Seong Min-su, Yoon Hwa-young, and Joo Young-seok — pair up with South Korea’s top chefs Hwang Jin-sun, Ahn Yoo-sung, Kim Yoo-ah, Lee Seung-joon, Lee Won-il, Oh Se-deuk, and Jo Seo-hyung to serve up a jaw-dropping visual feast.

From Chinese and Japanese dishes to fire shows and dramatic carving demos, theatrical culinary performances blend with baking. The TOP7 kick off the final phase with the first championship round, unleashing a dazzling parade of ingredients and declaring, “There’s nowhere left to back down.”

One contestant even pulls off an ultra-luxury ‘one-meal’ loaf that left Master Kwon Seong-joon stunned — he guessed roughly 3,000,000 KRW (approximately $2,250) went into ingredients alone. The TOP7 prove, with wildly inventive flair, that the finals are a different beast: think marinated crab in an earthenware pot, flower crab served on heated basalt, Peking duck teamed with king crab, and even lobster.

Yoon Hwa-young and Oh Se-deuk, both the same age and together boasting half a century of fine-dining experience, arrived with high expectations — but with 15 minutes to go, their teamwork wobbled, raising the tension. Yoon, usually composed and graceful, looked visibly shaken.

In the final moments, the masters sampled one contestant’s ‘one-meal’ bread and showered it with praise, calling it perfectly on-theme and moved by the story behind the dish — igniting the set. The show airs every Sunday at 9:50 PM.
