AI-powered price and usage-pattern recommendations

Coupang Eats is rolling out a hyper-personalized menu recommendation feature that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) and other advanced technologies.

According to a Seoul Economic Daily report on the 8th, the company is preparing personalized order content and filed a related patent on the 24th of last month to secure the underlying technology.

The service aims to change how users search and receive menu suggestions. Instead of only recommending items by broad cuisine categories—like Western, Chinese, or Korean—Coupang Eats plans to refine recommendations by factoring in price and individual ordering patterns, upgrading the platform’s delivery-app recommendation model.

For example, when a user sets a budget—say under 10,000 KRW (about $7.50) or under 20,000 KRW (about $15.00)—the app will factor in real-time delivery fees based on the distance between the user and the restaurant, then surface restaurants and dishes that fit that total price range. It will also prioritize the elements users care about most—delivery speed, reviews, ratings, and available promotions—to narrow down options that match those preferences.

Observers say this move responds to a shift in consumer behavior: as delivery fees and dining costs rise, customers increasingly make choices based on total spending rather than specific menu items. Coupang Eats told reporters, “This is part of our efforts to improve service quality and increase customer satisfaction. We have not set a specific launch date.”
