Yang Jun-hyuk — who admitted he lost 5 billion KRW (approximately $3.75 million) in a failed business — is hilariously floored when he encounters truffles for the first time.

On the April 12 episode of KBS2’s variety show Boss, My Ears Are Donkey Ears (episode 352), Jeong Ho-young, Jeong Ji-seon and Yang Jun-hyuk take viewers on a Hong Kong scouting tour. When a truffle is placed in front of him, Yang blurts out, “What’s a truffle?” and the moment cracks everyone up.

After sampling a bite of Mosu’s signature acorn noodles finished with truffle, Yang is asked by Jeong Ji-seon, “How’s the truffle aroma?” He honestly replies, “What’s a truffle?” Jeong Ho-young explains, “It’s the priciest kind of mushroom,” and Jeong Ji-seon adds, “The truffle on this plate alone is probably about 100,000 KRW (approximately $75).” Yang’s eyes widen: “Mushrooms can be that expensive?” Then, slurping the truffle-topped acorn noodles like he’s at a comforting family meal, he beams, “So tender, so soft — delicious.”

Yang Jun-hyuk is also amazed by the local Hong Kong adoration for Jeong Ji-seon and Jeong Ho-young, who shot to global chef fame after appearing on Black-and-White Chef. Crowds on the street swarm them for photos. Standing off to the side, Yang watches with a twinge of envy and jokes, “Maybe I should go on Black-and-White Chef with a yellowtail,” before playfully throwing his hat in the ring.

From discovering truffles at Mosu to announcing his intent to try out for Black-and-White Chef, Yang Jun-hyuk’s first step toward becoming a world-class chef unfolds on Boss, My Ears Are Donkey Ears, airing that day at 4:40 p.m. KST.
