How a French Bulldog in China Earned 10,000 Yuan by Fetching Bottles: A Unique Pet Story

Daniel Kim Views

Translation result중국 A video of a dog in China that fetches empty bottles has gone viral, and the owner says it brought in the equivalent of tens of millions of KRW (approximately $15,967.50 USD). The owner describes the bottle-collecting as more of a habit and a game for the dog, and says local shopkeepers even set aside empty bottles to support the routine.

According to Chinese outlets including Sina Finance on the 7th, a French bulldog named Xiaobai in Guangzhou became an online sensation for returning with empty bottles and generated 100,000 yuan (21,290,000 KRW, approximately $15,967.50 USD).

The owner clarified that Xiaobai didn’t raise the full 100,000 yuan by selling scrap metal alone, explaining that most of the income came from short-form video platforms.

There was, however, some actual bottle-sale income. Over the five-day Labor Day holiday, the bottles Xiaobai collected were sold for a total of 216 yuan (about 46,000 KRW, approximately $34.50 USD).

Xiaobai’s social account now has more than 270,000 followers, and the posts have racked up over 6.27 million likes.

When asked why he films Xiaobai’s daily life, the owner said he wants to entertain viewers while promoting a hardworking, positive attitude.

Online viewers have reacted warmly to videos of Xiaobai wandering the streets and bringing back bottles, calling them “healing” and “cute.”

Experts note that many dogs instinctively enjoy carrying objects, and that Xiaobai’s behavior was likely reinforced by praise and treats each time he returned with a bottle.

Observers also point out that a fetching routine can help dogs maintain exercise levels and cognitive activity; rewarding a dog after a task can support its psychological stability and overall health.
