Elevate Your Next Camping Trip With These 3 Gourmet Korean Beef Recipes

Translation result한우 [RealFood = Reporter Yuk Seong-yeon] The Hanwoo Management Committee has handpicked three Korean beef dishes that are ideal for a campsite cookout: Hanwoo bosesal with roasted potatoes, Hanwoo sirloin vegetable skewers, and Hanwoo shank stew.

On the 15th, the committee singled out bosesal as a top choice for grilling at the campsite. Bosesal offers a deep, beefy aroma that unfolds more with every bite. Mixing butter into the potatoes boosts their nutty, savory richness.

The method is straightforward. Marinate the bosesal in a soy-based sauce, and slice the potatoes thin and flat. Heat oil in a pan and brown the potatoes first. Once they’re golden, add onions and seasoned soy sauce, then cook the bosesal together until everything is nicely caramelized.

To elevate the camping vibe, try the Hanwoo sirloin vegetable skewers. Cut the sirloin into bite-sized pieces and marinate in seasoned soy sauce. Trim the vegetables to similar, bite-friendly sizes, thread the ingredients evenly onto skewers, season with herb salt and pepper, and grill over charcoal or on a hot grill for a smoky finish.

For the Hanwoo shank stew, use the shank cut — it’s leaner but delivers a clean, deep flavor. The rich broth from the shank pairs beautifully with a sweet-and-tangy tomato sauce.

To prepare, cut the shank into large chunks and season with white wine, salt, and pepper. Chop onions, potatoes, and carrots into bite-sized pieces. In a pot, heat cooking oil and brown the shank well to lock in the juices. Once the meat is browned, add butter and sauté the vegetables together, then pour in water and tomato sauce and let it simmer. Finish with salt and pepper to taste.

Min Kyung-chun, chairman of the Hanwoo Management Committee, said, “As camping has become a mainstream vacation choice, more people are looking to enjoy high-quality dining outdoors. We hope folks will explore these recipes and experience the true value of our Hanwoo.”
