NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang’s Beijing Noodle Visit Sparks Viral Menu Craze

Daniel Kim Views

A downtown Beijing noodle shop went viral after NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stopped by — and the next day the stall rolled out a “Leather Jacket” set menu that sent buzz into overdrive.

On the 21st (local time), the South China Morning Post reported that Huang visited a fried-noodle shop on the 15th in the Nanluoguxiang commercial area in central Beijing. He was in China as part of a U.S. delegation representing President Donald Trump for a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The dish he ate — a local favorite known as Beijing fried noodles — is topped with pork and crunchy vegetables and finished with sauce. Huang ordered the shop’s signature black-pork sauce noodles, priced at 38 yuan (about 8,400 KRW, approximately $6.30).

The shop was packed, so Huang and his team stood outside to eat. Locals snapped photos of him hunched over a large bowl, speedily twirling noodles with chopsticks, and those images quickly spread across social media.

After finishing, he repeatedly praised the food as hao chi (delicious), ordered a 7-yuan yogurt (about 1,500 KRW, approximately $1.13), and reportedly took extra food to go.

The next day the restaurant launched a special called “War God in a Leather Jacket.” The set bundles the noodles he ordered with the yogurt, and the name nods to Huang’s trademark leather jacket.

In China, Huang is often nicknamed the “War God in a Leather Jacket” because he frequently appears wearing a black leather jacket.

Since his visit, customers have flooded the spot; diners now face waits of at least 30 minutes to get a table.

Huang has shown a clear appetite for local street food on his trips to China. He’s visited the country four times this year alone: in January he shared beef hot pot with his party in Shenzhen and also toured traditional markets in Shanghai and Beijing, sampling local bites and beer.
