Dinosaur King: Why Triceratops and Carnotaurus Are Underrated Heroes Compared to Tyrannosaurus

In “Dinosaur King,” the main protagonist dinosaurs are Triceratops, Carnotaurus, and Parasaurolophus

For reference, the villainous roles are played by Tyrannosaurus, Spinosaurus, and Saichania, but they’re constantly getting beaten up, making this anime highly disliked by T-Rex and Spino fans

1. Triceratops

While it’s the main character in “Dinosaur King,”

its only significant role outside of that is causing chaos in “Jurassic Park III”

In other works, its presence is practically non-existent. They even introduced lesser-known dinosaurs like Sinoceratops, showing how much they wanted to avoid featuring Triceratops

2. Carnotaurus

In “Dinosaur King,” this relatively small dinosaur somehow manages to take down T-Rex and Spinosaurus, which are 6-7 times its size

It’s portrayed as overpowered

The “Jurassic World” producers seemed pretty ticked off by this, as they included a scene in the poster where Carnotaurus is getting owned by a T-Rex

3. Parasaurolophus

While not as exaggerated as the previous two, this herbivore that would realistically be a protein source for T-Rex and Spinosaurus is shown fighting on equal terms with them

Originally, this dinosaur had minimal screen time even in the first Jurassic Park, serving as T-Rex food in the third film. In the Jurassic World series, its role was further reduced to less than a minute of screen time. It finally got a more substantial part in “Dominion,” but even there, it’s easily captured by humans

While the protagonist dinosaurs are all mistreated, the villainous T-Rex and Spinosaurus are given much more favorable portrayals
