Taiwanese Actor Gu Jun-yeop Responds to Family Rumors: What’s the Truth Behind the 120 Billion Won Inheritance?

Variety reports that the mother and sister of late Taiwanese actor Seohui Won (Shu Shiyuan) have addressed rumors surrounding Koo Jun-yeob.
According to Taiwanese media outlet ETtoday on the 10th, Seohui Won’s family vehemently denied claims made by a local weekly magazine. The publication had suggested a covert dispute between Seohui’s mother and Koo Jun-yeob over Won’s estate, even hinting at potential legal action.
Seohui Won’s mother stated, “I absolutely detest lawsuits. They’re just a waste of time and resources.” She added, “I consider him my son. He loved Seohui deeply, and since he respects me, I love him too.”
Seohui’s sister also weighed in through her manager: “Those spreading such rumors have malicious intentions. My brother-in-law, Koo Jun-yeob, gave my sister the most genuine love and brought her true happiness. We’re eternally grateful to him. He’s family, and we’ll always protect him. I hope this puts an end to these baseless rumors.”
Reports from Taiwan last year estimated Seohui Won’s estate at roughly 120 billion KRW (approximately 81.6 million USD) following his passing. Koo Jun-yeob had previously announced his intention to relinquish all legal inheritance rights to Won’s mother.
On the 2nd, Koo Jun-yeob and Seohui Won’s family unveiled a memorial statue for Won at Jinbao Mountain Memorial Park in Taiwan. Koo, who is also an accomplished artist, personally designed the statue as a tribute to his late wife.
Following the unveiling, Koo shared a poignant letter to Seohui on his Instagram. He wrote, “To my eternal love, my everything, Seohui. Sitting alone on our empty bed each morning, I still can’t distinguish reality from dreams… wishing it were all just a nightmare as my heart aches.” He concluded, “My dearest Seohui, when we meet again, let’s be together for eternity. I miss you desperately.”
