[SPORTS TODAY reporter Song Oh-jung] Netflix has revealed character stills from Hounds Season 2 that capture a bloody, no-holds-barred confrontation between Woo Do-hwan, Lee Sang-yi and Jung Ji‑hoon.

The new images pick up after Geon‑woo (Woo Do‑hwan) and Woo‑jin (Lee Sang-yi) dismantled a brutal illegal loan‑shark ring. Now they’re taking aim at a global underground boxing circuit driven by money and violence, and the stills promise another satisfying, hard‑landing straight hook.

First up, Geon‑woo returns with a sharper, more determined gaze. After the fierce showdown that toppled the loan sharks, he’s back to protect the people he cares about—and he’s ready to fight again. With bandages reset and fists warmed up, the “hound” intensity in his eyes reads as grim resolve. Woo Do‑hwan, who called it an honor to return for Season 2, explained his approach: “Compared with Season 1, Geon‑woo’s circumstances have changed—his home is different—and he pursues his dream of becoming a champion with a little more composure. Three years have passed, so I worked to show his growth both physically and mentally.”

Meanwhile, Woo‑jin’s evolution into Geon‑woo’s coach adds new intrigue. Once a ring rival who bonded with Geon‑woo through brutal fights, Woo‑jin now supports him outside the ropes and joins the push for a championship. His steely stare—refusing to flinch before an opponent—reminds viewers that the fighter’s heart still beats strong. Lee Sang‑yi noted Woo‑jin’s transformation: “Woo‑jin, who loves boxing and has a great heart, becomes Geon‑woo’s coach; they become friends, brothers and family. If Season 1’s Woo‑jin felt mischievous, Season 2 shows him more tightly focused—determined to protect his mother, Geon‑woo and their family. You’ll see a more mature, dependable Woo‑jin.”

Jung Ji‑hoon’s Baek‑jeong—the antagonist who ramps up the tension against Geon‑woo and Woo‑jin—commands attention. Motivated solely by profit, he runs the global illegal boxing league that thrives on massive audiences and huge bets. His imposing presence and a cold smile that seems to relish chaos hint at a remorseless, dangerous villain. Taking on a villainous role for the first time, Jung Ji‑hoon described Baek‑jeong as “a brutal human weapon with no mercy.” He explained that Baek‑jeong once dreamed of becoming a champion but failed, then constructed an illegal boxing empire in the shadows and ruled it like a king. “I focused on Baek‑jeong’s instincts—an ever‑present edge, like someone always holding a knife,” Jung added, teasing a chilling new level of villainy.

Above all, global fans who fell for the flawless bro‑chemistry between Woo Do‑hwan and Lee Sang‑yi in Season 1 will be eager to see how that bond holds up against a new, formidable villain in Jung Ji‑hoon. Director Kim Joo‑hwan said they shot over 270 takes with Woo Do‑hwan and Lee Sang‑yi. “They feel like family—brothers and even mentors to each other. This season, their bromance runs deeper: they lean on and lift each other, encouraging mutual growth,” he said, underscoring the duo’s rare chemistry. On Baek‑jeong, he added, “If Season 1’s Myeong‑gil was the leader of the pack, Baek‑jeong is a giant tiger—he hunts alone and is more savage and lethal than anyone.” He praised Jung Ji‑hoon as an iconic actor for his generation, saying the actor brings massive presence, the physicality to threaten Geon‑woo and the action chops required for the role.

The hounds return in spectacular fashion—ready to protect what matters and to bite down to the end. With more brutal villains and upgraded action and scope, Hounds Season 2 promises peak catharsis. Netflix will release the series worldwide on Friday, April 3.
