[Sports Today reporter Im Si-ryeong] Actor Seo Hyun-woo is poised to deliver another striking transformation in ENA’s upcoming series ‘Climax.’
After earning praise for his fierce turn as a villain in the recent hit legal drama Honor: Their Court, Seo continues his momentum with a special appearance in ENA’s new Monday–Tuesday series Climax.
Climax follows prosecutor Bang Tae-seop (Ju Ji-hoon), who dives into a cartel to seize the nation’s top seat of power, and the brutal survival struggle among those caught in his orbit. In the series, Seo plays Oh Gwang-jae, a once-dominant film mogul from Chungmuro.
Oh Gwang-jae moves through political and business circles by any means necessary in pursuit of success. He is set to be a key figure in ratcheting up the show’s tension, particularly through his fraught, entangled relationship with Chu Sang-ah, portrayed by Ha Ji-won.
The most compelling element of Seo’s involvement is his chameleon-like approach to acting: he consistently erases himself to fully inhabit his roles. As Oh Gwang-jae, he intends to inject a quietly unnerving suspense through subtle, meticulously crafted details. His agency says that, even though the role is a special appearance, Seo devoted intensive character study to realize the character’s layered inner life.
Having proven a wide range—from bold, commanding performances to grounded, everyday realism—Seo’s latest transformation has the industry watching. Audiences are already eager to see the on-screen chemistry his presence will spark alongside heavyweights Ju Ji-hoon and Ha Ji-won.
With Seo’s addition strengthening the lineup, ENA’s Monday–Tuesday series Climax premieres on the 16th at 10 p.m. KST on ENA. It will also be available on Genie TV and Disney+.
