An incident unfolds in the basement of Ha Jung-woo’s building in the new series How to Become a Building Owner in Korea.
tvN’s new weekend drama How to Become a Building Owner in Korea (written by Oh Han-gi, directed by Im Pil-seong) premieres on the 14th and opens with a shocking turn that’s designed to jolt viewers.
The series centers on a small-time landlord buried in debt who becomes entangled in a staged kidnapping to protect his family and his building. It marks Ha Jung-woo’s return to television after 19 years and reunites a standout cast, including Im Soo-jung, Kim Jun-han, Jung Soo-jung and Shim Eun-kyung.
Ha plays Gi Su-jong, a family man who bought his building by maxing out loans and now struggles under heavy debt. He survives on the hope of a redevelopment windfall, but when the building is threatened, he fights desperately to hold on.
Episode 1 stills show Gi Su-jong stunned by what he discovers in the basement of his Se-yun Building. Leaving the management office, he nervously follows a strange noise to a long-abandoned cold storage room. He opens the door, puzzled, and freezes at the scene before him. Not fully aware of what he’s getting into, Gi steps into the staged kidnapping, a risky move that raises urgent questions about where it will lead him.
The production team said the story truly begins in episode one, when Gi Su-jong encounters a scene that makes him question his own eyes. They urged viewers to enjoy Ha Jung-woo’s committed performance as he transforms into a “maxed-out loan” landlord and to follow the story through his perspective.
The full fallout of the staged kidnapping in Gi Su-jong’s basement cold storage will be revealed when How to Become a Building Owner in Korea premieres at 9:10 p.m. (KST) tonight.
