[Sports Today Reporter Kim Tae-hyung] Yoo Yeon-seok — who plays a lawyer possessed by a spirit — turns into a mob lawyer today (the 14th). After a courtroom-shattering possession ending in episode 1, anticipation is running high for episode 2, where he upends the stage with gritty, dialect-driven action.
SBS’s new Friday–Saturday drama Shin I-rang Law Office, which premiered on the 13th, opened with a bold concept and a compelling lead turn from Yoo Yeon-seok. Its unusual premise—a lawyer haunted by the voice of a wrongly deceased man—paired with Yoo’s committed performance, made for an attention-grabbing debut. The show’s minute-by-minute ratings peaked at 6.6%, underscoring strong viewer interest. Shin I-rang (Yoo Yeon-seok) channels the voice of the wronged deceased and refuses to back down in his pursuit of justice, heightening the appeal of this fantasy-tinged courtroom series.
The previous episode’s standout moment was the shocking possession finale. After encountering a ghost, Shin I-rang took on the case of the wrongly deceased Lee Kang-pung (Heo Sung-tae). Lee died from apparent medical malpractice, but the truth was buried and his wife, Kim Min-ju (Kim Si-eun), faced pressure to accept a low settlement.
To gather evidence, Shin I-rang went undercover and infiltrated the scene. He discovered that, contrary to the operating-room staff list filed in court, there had been one more nurse who witnessed the doctor’s error.
The trial, however, stalled under the relentless crossfire of opposing counsel Han Na-hyun (Lee Som). Han weaponized Lee Kang-pung’s past ties to organized crime and his history of heart surgery to frame the incident as a preexisting condition. She even raised domestic violence allegations to damage the deceased’s reputation. Enraged, Lee Kang-pung possessed Shin I-rang, unleashing rough dialect and expletives that turned the courtroom into chaos.
As viewers wonder whether Shin I-rang can reverse the unfavorable verdict and clear Lee Kang-pung’s name, the episode 2 preview released after the broadcast shows Shin I-rang charging into danger to chase down leads. He, his brother-in-law Yoon Bong-su (Jeon Seok-ho), and Lee Kang-pung infiltrate a gang stronghold in search of a decisive clue.
The twist: only Shin I-rang can see Lee Kang-pung, and Lee can even possess Shin’s body. Unlike the terrified Yoon Bong-su, Shin presses forward without hesitation—his fearless shift grabs attention. When gangsters block him asking, “Who are you?” Lee, speaking through Shin, answers, “Me? I’m Lee Kang-pung, the gangster lawyer!”—revealing the deceased’s true persona.
The released stills underline Shin I-rang’s dramatic range. The sight of him sneaking into enemy territory with Yoon Bong-su and the deceased Lee Kang-pung produces laughs: the three huddle behind piles of warehouse supplies, peeking out with terrified expressions that deliver a wry, poignant comic beat amid the tension.
Then the mood flips. The seemingly mild-mannered Shin I-rang suddenly hardens, dominating the scene with a transformed stare. Even under the gangsters’ threats, he doesn’t flinch—standing with his hands tucked into his waistband and a cocky tilt, he becomes pure gangster energy.
The production team said that in today’s (the 14th) episode, Yoo Yeon-seok will offer both comedy and uncompromising, physical action that deliver genuine genre thrills. His rapid switch between a cowering Shin I-rang and the rough charisma of Lee Kang-pung will be a major draw. They added that viewers should watch to see whether Shin I-rang—who even ventures into the gang’s stronghold to turn the trial around—can find the decisive clue to clear Lee Kang-pung’s name.
