[Sports Today reporter Jeong Ye-won] The unstoppable run of the film ‘A Man Who Lives with the King’ continues.
The team behind ‘A Man Who Lives with the King’ (director Jang Hang-jun) announced on the 15th that the film has surpassed 13 million admissions.
Data from the Korea Film Council’s integrated box office system show the film drew 554,284 viewers the previous day, bringing its cumulative total to 12,989,739. Additional morning tallies on the 15th pushed the total past the 13 million mark.
Set in 1457 at Cheongnyeongpo, the story follows a village chief who volunteers for exile to revive his town and a young former king who was dethroned and exiled. The cast includes Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, Jeon Mi-do, Kim Min, Park Ji-hwan, Lee Jun-hyuk and Ahn Jae-hong.
Since opening on Feb. 4, strong word-of-mouth from actual moviegoers has kept it at No. 1 at the box office. After more than a month of steady business, it became the 34th domestic film to reach 10 million admissions and only the fourth historical (period) film in Korean cinema history to do so.
