The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), led by Director Lee Yong-cheol, inked a deal with the Defense Technology Quality Agency (DTQA) on February 10, 2026, at the Gwacheon Government Complex. This agreement aims to streamline and expedite the Current Force Capability Enhancement Program.
* Signatories: DAPA (Director of Force Support Division Park Jeong-eun), DTQA (Director of Quality Research Division Jang Bong-ki) The program addresses the military’s on-the-ground needs by swiftly upgrading existing weapon systems’ performance, quality, and operability. Since its 2022 inception, DAPA has completed 66 projects, rapidly meeting the armed forces’ upgrade requests. This approach has significantly boosted troop satisfaction and enhanced the combat effectiveness of deployed assets.
Previously, DAPA shared program management between DTQA and the Defense Rapid Acquisition Technology Research Institute. Starting this year, DAPA is consolidating management under DTQA to boost efficiency. Under this new arrangement, DTQA will develop project plans and fast-track bid announcements in the first half of 2026.
The 17 projects, totaling 144 billion KRW, include: △ Army light tactical vehicle safety and combat efficiency upgrades △ Navy Tactical C4I System (KNCCS) combat effectiveness enhancements △ Air Force Cheongung-I and II anti-jamming capability improvements △ Marine Corps MUH-I engine exhaust reconfiguration.
Park Jeong-eun, DAPA’s Force Support Division Director, stated, “This partnership with DTQA, leveraging their technical expertise and infrastructure, will accelerate our response to military requirements.
