Seosan officials announced on the 10th that parts of Dodang-ri in Eumam-myeon, Hongcheon-ri in Haemi-myeon, and Suseok-dong have been newly designated as Type 3 military noise mitigation zones.

The expansion covers 171 land parcels, enabling 275 residents in these areas to claim military noise compensation. Military noise mitigation zones are classified into three types based on noise impact levels. Residents in Type 3 zones can receive up to 30,000 KRW (about 22.5 USD) per month in compensation. However, compensation amounts may vary depending on residency registration dates and work locations.

Residents will be eligible to apply for military noise compensation if they have their official residence registered in the designated zones and actually lived there between January 1 and December 31, 2025.

Seosan authorities have sent individual notices to newly affected residents, detailing the zone expansion, application process, and required documentation. Applications can be submitted in person at the Seosan Climate and Environment Division or the Eumam-myeon Community Center until the 28th of this month.

In related news, Seosan reported distributing approximately 2.45 billion KRW (1.84 million USD) in compensation to 9,025 residents across Eumam-myeon, Unsan-myeon, Haemi-myeon, Gobuk-myeon, Suseok-dong, and Seoknam-dong military noise mitigation zones in 2025.
