Daesung Hi-Tech (129920), a U.S.-based ultra-precision machining specialist, has secured a significant contract valued at approximately 103 billion KRW (about 77.25 million USD) for the supply of 68 critical components used in ground and airborne weapon systems, the company announced on Wednesday.

The high-precision parts are destined for weapon systems produced by global defense giant Elbit Systems. These components must perform with exceptional accuracy and reliability under extreme conditions. Industry experts note that once production begins, changing suppliers for such specialized parts becomes extremely difficult.

Daesung Hi-Tech is also actively involved in the development and initial production of next-generation weapon systems for both ground and air platforms. This latest order serves as a precursor for multiple ongoing projects.

The contract goes beyond standard precision machining, incorporating Daesung Hi-Tech’s proprietary surface treatment process. By bringing in-house the advanced surface treatment previously outsourced to European specialists, the company now offers end-to-end production capabilities, including precision machining, specialized surface treatment, and rigorous quality control.

A Daesung Hi-Tech spokesperson told Military Times, “Our integrated production approach not only reduces lead times and improves cost-effectiveness but also enhances technological security and our ability to meet specific customer requirements. This contract marks a significant milestone in strengthening our position within the global defense supply chain.”

The spokesperson added, “We anticipate this initial order will lead to increased production volumes and long-term agreements as these programs mature. Daesung Hi-Tech is positioning itself as a key supplier capable of supporting multiple weapon systems for major defense contractors, which is driving structural growth in our defense business pipeline.”
