Defense Minister An Gyu-baek briefed on the outcomes of the 57th Security Consultative Meeting (SCM) at the Ministry of National Defense in Seoul on November 14 last year.

Defense Minister An Gyu-baek held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of National Guard, Abdullah bin Bandar Al Saud, on February 9, agreeing to bolster cooperation in defense and military industries.
The Ministry of National Defense reported that Minister An met with Minister Abdullah at the World Defense Show (WDS) in Saudi Arabia. This second meeting since last year saw Minister An emphasizing continued mutually beneficial cooperation based on deep trust and respect. Minister Abdullah reciprocated by proposing enhanced defense collaboration in various fields, including personnel exchanges, military education, and medical services, while also expanding partnerships in the defense industry.
Subsequently, Minister An convened with representatives from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) participating in the WDS. Industry leaders called for increased government backing for defense exports, support for SMEs entering global markets, and regulatory improvements to boost exports, all aimed at propelling South Korea into the ranks of the world’s top four defense industry powerhouses.
Minister An remarked, “Our defense SMEs have diligently built up their technology and consistently maintained quality, resulting in K-weapon systems now reaching across the globe, redefining South Korea’s defense industry history.” He pledged, “To ensure these achievements lead to sustainable growth, we will foster a defense ecosystem where SMEs and large corporations can thrive together, implementing tangible policies and support measures that resonate on the ground.”
