They agreed to maintain close communication on the Ukraine war and developments on the Korean Peninsula.

The call, initiated by Stoltenberg, was their first discussion since their initial conversation last July.

President Yoon highlighted South Korea’s position as an ideal defense partner for NATO, citing its advanced military capabilities and existing cooperation with several member states. He proposed leveraging the recently established South Korea-NATO Defense Cooperation Council to enhance defense collaboration.

Stoltenberg reciprocated by commending South Korea’s defense prowess and pledged ongoing support for strengthening ties.

Both parties committed to deepening the South Korea-NATO relationship across multiple domains, including defense industry cooperation, space technology, and intelligence sharing.
