President Lee took to X (formerly Twitter) on the 10th to honor the fallen soldiers. “I bow my head in solemn respect for the ultimate sacrifice made by Chief Warrant Officer Jung Sang-geun and Warrant Officer Jang Hee-sung, who lost their lives while executing their training mission under extreme weather conditions,” he stated.

The President emphasized the pilots’ heroism, noting, “These brave aviators maintained control of their aircraft until the very end, prioritizing the safety of our citizens. The crash site was a mere 60 meters from residential areas. A slight deviation in their flight path could have resulted in a far greater loss of life.” He added, “We must never forget that our nation’s peace and security are built upon the dedication and sacrifice of true warriors like these.”

President Lee also pledged to honor the fallen pilots and support their families. “To the bereaved families who must bid farewell to their proud sons, husbands, and fathers, I extend my deepest condolences,” he said. “While words cannot adequately express the depth of your loss, I assure you that we will provide all appropriate honors and support to commemorate their service and sacrifice.”
