YEONGCHEON, South Korea – The Yeongcheon City Veterans Association convened its 67th Annual General Assembly and Commemoration Ceremony on March 9th at the Veterans Hall.

The event drew 150 attendees, including Mayor Choi Gi-moon, City Council Chairman Kim Seon-tae, and members of the Veterans Association. The program was divided into two segments: the general assembly and the commemoration ceremony.

During the assembly, members reviewed the 2025 financial report and presented the 2026 budget. The ceremony kicked off with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by awards for distinguished members, keynote speeches, a security resolution meeting, and a group photo session. Attendees reaffirmed their commitment to spearheading regional development and bolstering national security.

Chairman Jo Gyu-chang stated, “This annual gathering provides a crucial opportunity to reflect on our past achievements and chart our future course.” He added, “Moving forward, the Veterans Association will continue to be at the vanguard of national security efforts and community service initiatives.”

A city official expressed profound gratitude to the veterans, saying, “Yeongcheon City, as a pivotal hub for national security, will collaborate closely with the Veterans Association to foster a safer and more dynamic community.”

The Yeongcheon City Veterans Association, a prominent organization comprising former service members, is dedicated to promoting national security awareness and honoring the sacrifices of Korean heroes.

The association runs an innovative Patriotism and National Security School, educating students about the critical importance of national defense and instilling a sense of civic duty. Their diverse initiatives include organizing one-on-one support events for Korean War veterans, conducting memorial services at the Yeongcheon National Cemetery, and leading volunteer efforts to maintain war memorials. These activities significantly contribute to the local community’s well-being and patriotic spirit.
