[iNews24 Correspondent Cha Chang-hyun] Americans, angered by the Trump administration’s increasingly authoritarian approach to governance and its military actions against Iran, have taken to the streets.

On the 28th (local time), The Washington Post and other outlets reported that more than 3,300 rallies were held across all 50 U.S. states. Organizers estimated about 8 million people attended. Protesters, chanting ‘No Kings,’ denounced the administration.

Demonstrators criticized the administration’s thin justification for strikes against Iran. U.S. forces have not presented concrete evidence to substantiate the \”imminent threat\” cited as the basis for airstrikes. President Trump’s campaign pledge to end wars has been re‑raised, intensifying public criticism.

As the campaign continues, rising U.S. casualties have further fueled anger. Iran struck Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia with missiles and drones, wounding 12 U.S. service members, two of them seriously. At least two KC-135 aerial refueling tankers were also damaged. With U.S. ground operations in Iran reportedly under consideration, the casualty toll could rise.

Iran’s partial blockade of the Strait of Hormuz pushed oil prices higher and worsened inflation, adding to public frustration. On the 25th, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) sharply raised its U.S. consumer price inflation forecast for this year from 3.0% in December to 4.2%. Senior officials at the U.S. Federal Reserve have warned the conflict has increased inflationary risks.

The Washington Post reports that even core MAGA supporters appear to be turning away. Observers are watching whether the protests will broaden into a movement aimed at the midterm elections, scheduled eight months from now.

The No Kings demonstrations began on June 14 last year, coinciding with President Trump’s birthday, drawing roughly 6 million participants at about 2,100 locations nationwide. A second wave followed in response to a government shutdown and tougher immigration enforcement, drawing an estimated 7 million people across more than 2,700 cities.
