[CBC News] Following a U.S.-Iran ceasefire announcement, commercial vessel traffic is beginning to resume in the Strait of Hormuz.

Data from the vessel-tracking service MarineTraffic show roughly 426 tankers, 34 LPG carriers and 19 LNG ships — hundreds of vessels in total — remain in the area. Many had been effectively sidelined during the recent disruption.

Initial movements have already been recorded. The Greek-owned bulk carrier NJ Earth transited the strait at 08:44 UTC, while the Liberian-flagged Daytona Beach departed Bandar Abbas and transited at 06:59 UTC.

Commercial movements are restarting gradually, with shipping activity returning incrementally as operators assess security and routing conditions.
