[Herald Economy=Reporter Park Hyewon] Russia and Ukraine agreed April 11 to a 32-hour cease-fire and a reciprocal exchange of 175 prisoners each.
On April 11 (local time), Russia’s Defense Ministry posted on state social media MAX: “On April 11, 175 Russian soldiers returned from areas controlled by the Kyiv regime (Ukraine). In exchange, 175 Ukrainian soldiers were handed over.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that the swap would bring home 175 service members, including border guards, and seven civilians.
Zelenskyy said most of those returning were detained after the 2022 invasion and that some are wounded. He thanked the international community for its role in facilitating the exchange.
Earlier, the two sides agreed to the 32-hour cease-fire beginning at 4 p.m. on April 11 to observe Orthodox Easter.
