On April 27, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) announced an upgrade to the Defense Electronic Procurement System aimed at improving usability for defense contractors and increasing administrative efficiency.
South Korea’s Defense Electronic Procurement System is the government’s primary defense-procurement platform, serving roughly 500,000 registered users from the armed services and supplier companies.
Because the system handles matters tied directly to national security, it has long required a high level of protection. Until now, users were forced to repeat a three-step authentication—login, identity verification and electronic signature—every time they participated in a bid, creating a significant burden.
DAPA said it has strengthened safeguards around the storage and use of authentication data and streamlined the authentication flow so that the prior three-step process now operates as a single initial login without compromising security.
The agency also exempted users already approved on the Public Procurement Service’s Nara Market from having to secure separate, repeated approvals to participate in defense procurement.
