Defense Procurement to Become More User-Friendly
Three-step authentication cut to a single initial login

Lee The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), led by Administrator Lee Yong-chul, has upgraded the Defense Electronic Procurement System and will begin rolling out the revised service on the 27th to improve convenience for participating companies and boost administrative efficiency.

According to DAPA, the Defense Electronic Procurement System is the core platform for defense procurement, used by about 500,000 registered users from the armed services and suppliers, with roughly 20,000 daily logins. Because the system supports work directly tied to national security, it has long required a high level of protection.

Until now, users had to repeat a three-step authentication process—logging in, verifying their identity and applying an electronic signature—every time they participated in a bid. A DAPA official said the agency strengthened security measures for storing and using authentication data, allowing the three-step process to be reduced to a single initial login, significantly improving user convenience. By linking and integrating government systems, DAPA also waived a redundant approval step that had required users already authorized on the Public Procurement Service’s Nara Market to obtain separate clearance for defense work.

Kim Kyung-ho (set to be promoted to Army brigadier general), acting director of planning and coordination at DAPA, said the changes will ease burdens for companies in the defense procurement market and improve operational convenience. He added that the ongoing Defense Electronic Procurement System modernization project, scheduled for completion in December 2027, will further build a user-friendly system and strengthen the agency’s engagement with its customers.
