[Point Economy] SEOUL — North Korea resumed missile launches roughly a month after mid‑April, raising tensions on the Korean Peninsula. The Joint Chiefs of Staff said on the 26th that the North fired an unidentified projectile into the Yellow Sea (West Sea).

The move came 37 days after an April 19 launch. On that occasion, North Korea fired several short‑range ballistic missiles from the Sinpo area of South Hamgyong Province, claiming they were fitted with cluster warheads. The missiles reportedly traveled about 140 kilometers (87 miles).

If officials confirm the projectile was a ballistic missile, it would be Pyongyang’s eighth provocation this year.
