Reuters reported that at about 1:30 a.m. local time, witnesses heard three blasts east of Bandar Abbas. Iran’s air-defense systems activated for several minutes afterward, and authorities have opened an investigation to determine the cause.
The Bandar Abbas area also experienced blasts on the 25th. U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said those strikes were conducted in self-defense and targeted specific sites. The U.S. military said it struck vessels engaged in mine-laying operations and Iranian missile bases.
Iran condemned the strikes as violations of a cease-fire agreement and warned it would respond. However, no significant military clashes have been reported since.
