Remembering Park Kyung-koo: A Tribute by Singer Jang Beom-jun to His Late Friend

In the 14-minute video, Jang honored the late musician by performing songs Park had written and composed. The touching tribute garnered numerous comments from fans sharing in the remembrance.

Park’s cousin shared on the late musician’s social media, “It’s still hard to believe, but I’m conveying this sad news on behalf of the family. We would be grateful if you could join us in sending warm thoughts on his final journey.”

Singer Jang Beom-jun paid tribute to Park Kyung-koo, an original member of the band Busker Busker, expressing his deep sense of loss. On February 9, Jang uploaded a video to his YouTube channel titled “Park Kyung-koo’s Best Clips (Between Hongdae and Konkuk University, A Person Worthy of the Word Love, Difficult Woman).”

News of Park Kyung-koo’s untimely passing at 38 broke on February 7. A memorial service was held at a funeral home in Namyangju, with the funeral taking place on the morning of February 9.

Jang and Park were known to be close friends and high school classmates. The duo significantly shaped each other’s musical journeys while busking together in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province.

As a founding member of Busker Busker, Park played a pivotal role in establishing the band’s early sound. He wrote, composed, and arranged hit songs like “Difficult Woman,” “A Person Worthy of the Word Love,” and “Shinpoong Station Exit 2 Blues.”

Even after their paths diverged, the two maintained a strong friendship. While leading the band Algenity, Park continued to support Jang’s solo career. He penned “Between Hongdae and Konkuk University,” featured on Jang’s second solo album.

Last March, Jang expressed his affection for Park. Upon releasing his fourth album, “The History of the Loser,” he wished for Park’s good health. Tragically, less than a year later, news of Park’s passing left the music community in shock. [Variety, Los Angeles]
