IVE’s Gaeul Triumphs in ‘Death Game’ with Cool-Headed Strategy
Gaeul, a member of the K-pop girl group IVE, showcased her strategic prowess in the latest episode of Netflix’s hit series “Death Game: Bet 10 Million KRW (7,500 USD),” which aired on the 4th.
The rising star faced off against lawyer Yang Na-rae, who had clinched her first victory in the previous episode. Gaeul, a self-proclaimed brain game enthusiast, entered the competition with confidence. “I’m here to prove I’m not an easy opponent,” she declared. Commentator Jang Dong-min added to the anticipation, revealing that fellow IVE member Ahn Yujin had praised Gaeul’s board game skills.
The challenge, titled “Let’s Run the Horses,” required players to navigate their pieces to the center of the board before their opponent. After a quick study of the rules, Gaeul remarked, “It’s less complex than I anticipated,” and immediately began strategizing. “I’ll take an aggressive approach,” she analyzed. “The key is to read your opponent’s moves.”
In the first round, Gaeul’s calm demeanor and careful probing caught viewers’ attention. Despite admitting the difficulty of mounting an attack, she engaged in intense tactical exchanges. Jang Dong-min commended both players for their measured approaches. Gaeul’s sharp eye for her opponent’s missteps ultimately led her to clinch the round.
The second round saw Gaeul’s confidence soar as her opponent mirrored her previous strategy. “I’m doubling down on what worked before,” she explained. With cool-headed judgment, Gaeul fended off her opponent’s advances and methodically positioned her pieces. A subtle smile crossed her face as she took control of the game’s momentum.
Gaeul’s psychological edge and strategic acumen secured her victory in the episode. Looking ahead to her next challenge against YouTuber and survival show producer Jin Yong-jin, Gaeul expressed her determination to maintain her winning streak.
Outside the game show arena, IVE continues to dominate the K-pop scene. The group recently dropped their second full-length album, “REVIVE+,” on the 23rd of last month. Their double title tracks, “BANG BANG” and “BLACKHOLE,” have already claimed the top spot on five music shows, cementing IVE’s status as one of K-pop’s hottest acts.
