(The CEN News / Reporter Kim Seon-ah) South Korean ballerina Ok Ye-rin is set to join Germany’s Stuttgart Ballet, one of the world’s most prestigious companies.
Ok, 19, has officially signed with the Stuttgart Ballet — frequently ranked among the global top five — and will begin as a company member this September. Her rapid move onto the international stage has made her a notable presence in South Korea’s ballet community.
The Stuttgart Ballet is widely regarded as Germany’s leading company, celebrated for its inventive repertoire and distinguished corps. Kang Sue-jin, now director of the National Ballet of Korea, became the first Korean to join the company in 1986, helping raise its profile at home. Kang Hyo-jung later danced with the company in 2004.
Ok left Yewon School in 2022 and relocated to Germany to train at the John Cranko School.
She earned a silver medal in the junior division of the 2021 Korea International Ballet Competition, and in 2022 she finished as runner-up at a U.S.-based international youth ballet competition, further confirming her promise.
