[Sports Today reporter Yoon Hye-young] DinDin and Jo Hyun-young — longtime friends in the Korean music scene — are reviving a generation-defining duet, leaning into their genuine offstage chemistry.

The pair’s remake single, “If I Were Reborn,” is scheduled to arrive on the 17th at 6 p.m. KST via major online music platforms.

Originally released in November 1998 by Kim Don-gyu and Esther, “If I Were Reborn” became a hugely popular male-female ballad and has endured as a cross-generational classic.

This version carries added resonance because DinDin and Jo Hyun-young are close friends who collaborated naturally, drawing on a friendship that stretches back to their school days. Their relaxed rapport and honest delivery give the familiar song a fresh emotional color.

A pre-release clip released ahead of the single highlights those shared memories. In the video, the two laugh about how they used to visit karaoke more often than school, recalling a favorite local noraebang and how they pooled money with friends to sing — small moments that reveal their authentic camaraderie.

They also discussed the original. DinDin noted that “If I Were Reborn” was considered a signature duet for the prior generation and suggested it holds a similar nostalgic place for their peers as Na Yoon-kwon’s “Anbu.”

The remake honors the original’s emotional core while layering in the artists’ individual colors, resulting in a warmer duet ballad. Their easy, longtime-friend chemistry helps the song’s emotional arc land with striking sincerity.
