[Sports Seoul | Reporter Seo Ji-hyun] Singer Yves reveals her singular sensibility.

Yves will release her fourth EP, NAIL, at 1 p.m. on the 17th across major streaming platforms.

NAIL centers on the object of a “nail,” which Yves uses to explore and document her personal sensibility. She zeroes in on emotional moments that cross borders—race, gender and language—and captures, through music, how disparate tastes can unexpectedly align.

The title track, “NAIL (feat. Lolo Zouaï),” leans on alternative hip-hop textures and a gritty production, using metaphor to sing about a presence that lingers and keeps resurfacing.

Yves wrote the lyrics herself, lending the song a sense of authenticity. Guest artist Lolo Zouaï contributes a contrasting flow and tone that shifts the track’s texture alongside Yves’s compelling vocal performance.

The music video released with the single presents Yves expressing a range of sensations. As she gradually embraces new feelings within unfamiliar spaces, she pulls listeners deeper into the record’s emotional landscape.

The five-track EP also includes “It,” Yves’s personal take on the concept of death; “HALO,” which uses a repeating, hallucinatory rhythm to chart a deeper descent into sensation; “Break it (feat.Lexie Liu),” where condensed energy erupts along the fractures of feeling; and “birth,” which treats the idea of birth through classical instrumentation. Notably, the closing track “birth” flows naturally into the opening track “It,” giving the EP a deliberately circular structure.

Yves contributed lyrics to the title track “NAIL (feat. Lolo Zouaï)” as well as “It,” “HALO” and “birth,” imprinting her musical identity across the release. Through collaborations with Lolo Zouaï and Lexie Liu—artists active primarily in the U.S. and China, respectively—she aims to create musical synergy that transcends borders and languages. sjay0928@sportsseoul.com
