The Gyeonggi Arts Center will present \”MBC Gagok Night with Gyeonggi Arts Center\” at its Grand Theater on Thursday, April 30. Launched in 1972, MBC Gagok Night has helped popularize the Korean art song—gagok—and expand its audience across generations.

The program centers on Korean art songs and classical repertoire while incorporating crossover elements to broaden the musical palette. Performers will blend the deep resonance of traditional gagok with contemporary staging to enrich the music’s lyricism and emotional impact.

With Family Month approaching, the concert is intended to bridge generations and foster a warm, relatable atmosphere. Familiar melodies and fresh interpretations will flow naturally, offering audiences a relaxed yet deeply felt musical experience.

Vocalists active at home and abroad will take the stage, including sopranos Sun-hye Lim and Hae-won Lee, tenor John No, baritone Ki-hoon Kim, and bass-baritone Byung-min Gil, who will convey the distinctive depth and lyricism of Korean art songs.

Crossover groups La Poem and Liberante, the Gyeonggi Rivera Orchestra, and recording artist Yerin will also perform, presenting genre-spanning programs that make classical-rooted music more accessible and resonate with multiple generations.

The Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra will appear under conductor Yun-hak Baek, while the Gyeonggi Rivera Orchestra and the MBC Modus Orchestra will be led by conductor Seong-ho Park.

The Gyeonggi Rivera Orchestra is the nation’s first training-focused ensemble dedicated to helping people with disabilities develop as professional artists; it is preparing for its second regular concert this year. In March, MBC launched the MODUS Orchestra, composed of musicians with severe disabilities.

The performance is open to audiences ages 7 and up (born in 2019 or earlier). Tickets are available through the Gyeonggi Arts Center website and NOL Ticket.
