Gyeonggi University (President Lee Yoon-kyu) announced on May 7 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with global AI music studio ACE STUDIO to modernize AI music education and develop global talent.
Under the agreement, Gyeonggi’s Department of Practical Music will serve as an officially certified training partner of ACE STUDIO. ACE STUDIO operates a subscription service focused on AI music production and began supporting the Korean language in December of last year. The department already runs an advanced AI music production program called AImusiclab, and university officials say the partnership should strengthen its global competitiveness.
The two sides also agreed to collaborate on: ▲ providing exclusive benefits for faculty and classes to support teaching and research; ▲ offering targeted promotions and other benefits for students in the Department of Practical Music; ▲ testing AI vocal model performance and exchanging feedback; and ▲ awarding an “AI Vocal Director” certification to program completers.
Notably, the “AI Vocal Director” certification is the first of its kind in South Korea. Industry observers predict the AI Vocal Director role could emerge as a new profession in the evolving music market. Professor Lee In-ho, head of the Department of Practical Music, said, “This agreement gives students a groundbreaking opportunity to be recognized as professional directors, and we will fully support their development as global leaders in the AI era.”
