The Busan Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra will present a narrated concert exploring Spanish music at 7:30 p.m. on the 13th in the Busan Cultural Center’s small theater.
The program opens with the overture to Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. Guitarist Jin-se Kim joins the orchestra for Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, followed by Manuel de Falla’s The Three-Cornered Hat Suite No. 1. The program highlights Spain’s distinctive rhythms and evocative melodies.
Commuters and after-work audiences are expected to trickle into the small theater lobby ahead of the performance.
Deputy conductor Seung-hyun Baek will both lead the orchestra and offer commentary. The Busan Cultural Center said the program was designed to make classical music more accessible and approachable by explaining the composers and the works’ historical context.
Organizers expect the blend of guitar and orchestra to produce a rich, immersive sound that will captivate listeners. Soloist Jin-se Kim aims to showcase the lyricism and romantic spirit that characterize Spanish guitar music through Rodrigo’s signature Concierto de Aranjuez.
With the classical world increasingly emphasizing narrated and experiential programs, the Busan Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra is stepping up efforts to deliver more audience-friendly performances.
Tickets are available on the Busan Cultural Center website; all seats are priced at 10,000 KRW (about $7.50).
