Former Jincheon County Mayor Song Gi-seob, 69, officially entered the gubernatorial race for Chungbuk Province on the 10th after completing his registration as a preliminary candidate.
Following his registration, Song visited the press room at the provincial government office to share his campaign vision and determination.
Song unveiled his vision for creating a “Special Central City” in Chungbuk, outlining four key strategies: a regional convergence economic zone, an airport railway international zone, an artificial intelligence future zone, and a basic social coexistence zone.
The regional convergence economic zone aims to unite Chungbuk’s 11 cities and counties into a single economic community. The airport railway international zone focuses on integrating Chungbuk as a vital component of the metropolitan megacity and developing it into a global gateway.
The artificial intelligence future zone proposes to design South Korea’s first AI-driven industrial landscape, while the basic social coexistence zone seeks to foster an equitable society for all residents, free from discrimination.
Song emphasized, “This election will shape Chungbuk’s future for the next four years. We must move past the irresponsible rhetoric of the last four years and elect a qualified, well-prepared governor to transform Chungbuk.”
Song’s public service career began in 1978 when he passed the technical civil service examination. He has since served three terms as the mayor of Jincheon and held the position of head of the Administrative City Construction Agency.
