In a Facebook post, Lee exposed the party’s double-dealing: “While the People Power Party leadership publicly claims they’ve never aligned with the ‘Yoon Again’ faction, behind closed doors, they’re placating conspiracy theorists through Supreme Council member Kim Min-soo, asking them to ‘be patient, it’s just a strategic separation.'”
Lee pointed out the contradiction in Kim’s statements. “At a Free Korean Party event, Kim said, ‘We can’t win local elections with Yoon Again.’ It’s a case of ‘public severance, private embrace’ and ‘daytime separation, nighttime patience.'”
He drew parallels to former party leader Hwang Kyo-ahn’s missteps: “Hwang took the same path, relying on Jeon Gwang-hoon’s rallies and ignoring the fervor of the ultra-conservative Taegeukgi group. The result? A crushing defeat in the 2020 general election, his resignation, and political downfall.”
Lee continued, “Later, Jeon Gwang-hoon turned on Hwang, spreading false allegations of a ‘5 billion KRW (3.75 million USD) nomination fee.’ The support they borrowed is a debt that will accrue interest.”
“What’s more alarming is the People Power Party’s response,” Lee emphasized. “When Jeon issued a three-day ultimatum, the leadership’s reaction was, ‘We have nothing to say, interpret it as you will.’ How can anyone believe that a leadership cowering before a single conspiracy theorist could effectively sever ties with military hardliners?”
Lee concluded, “Jeon and the Yoon Again faction aren’t negotiation partners; they need to be dealt with decisively. Publicly denying ties while secretly asking for patience isn’t strategic ambiguity—it’s strategic cowardice.”
Previously, Jeon claimed on his YouTube channel, “Jeon Han-gil News,” that he had demanded Representative Jang Dong-hyuk to “respond within three days on severing ties with Yoon Again. No response will be taken as a severance, and I’ll withdraw my support.” Jeon alleged that Jang, through Kim, had responded negatively.
