Suwon City Council Chair Lee Jae-sik Receives Plaque of Merit at Southern Association Regular Meeting; Eight City Councils Discuss Cooperation to Address Local Issues

On the 17th, Lee Jae-sik, chair of the Suwon City Council, attended the 59th regular meeting of the Southern Association of Gyeonggi Province City and County Council Chairs at Gwacheon City Council, where he discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and advance development among local legislatures.
The association comprises the chairs of eight southern city councils—Suwon, Hwaseong, Yongin, Seongnam, Ansan, Anyang, Uiwang, and Gwacheon—and meets regularly to promote inter-council cooperation and coordinate joint responses to regional issues.
At the meeting, members reviewed the association’s key agenda items, exchanged views on council operations and local concerns, and discussed concrete measures for cooperation.
In particular, Lee was presented with a plaque of merit by the Southern Association in recognition of his contributions to strengthening cooperation and communication among local councils.
Chair Lee said, “Close cooperation among southern city and county councils is a vital foundation for strengthening local self-governance and improving residents’ quality of life. We will continue to communicate and collaborate to bolster the role of local councils and promote mutually beneficial regional development.”
