Under party rules, if no candidate wins more than 50% in the main primary, the top two finishers proceed to a runoff. The final result will be determined 50% by party-member votes and 50% by a public opinion poll.
Balloting will be available online, via ARS (automated phone system), or by mail. Results from both the party-member electorate and the public electorate will be combined.
Rep. Jang Jong-tae, who failed to advance to the runoff, said the support and sentiments shown during the primary will not be wasted. He added that he will keep that sincerity close to his heart and continue serving citizens with humility.
