Rep. Han Jun-ho, who lost the Democratic Party primary for Gyeonggi governor in the June 3 local elections, said he was \”worried about the Gyeonggi administration\” after Rep. Choo Mi-ae was chosen as the party’s nominee, and he apologized on the 8th.

On the night of the 7th, during a YouTube live stream, Han said the nominee \”was not fully prepared\” and questioned how the campaign would fare in the general election. He also expressed concern about whether the Gyeonggi provincial administration could deliver results on par with the president’s achievements.

Han has been widely described as a so-called \”Myung-pick\” — a candidate favored by President Lee Jae-myung.

Earlier, the Democratic Party’s Central Election Commission said it held the Gyeonggi gubernatorial primary from the 5th through the 7th, and Choo secured the nomination with a majority of the vote.

After his remarks drew criticism, Han posted on Facebook that his comments were \”a brief, regretful musing I muttered to myself on my way home.\” He said he immediately switched the livestream to private and apologized for acting without sufficient caution and for causing concern.

Han added that he knows and trusts Choo’s strong capabilities and quick ability to learn, and he offered a sincere apology for hurting the candidate and party members.

He said he will take his remorse to heart and redouble his efforts — \”two to three times\” more — pledging to devote all his energy to Choo’s victory and to the success of Gyeonggi Province. He apologized once again.

Choo responded to Han’s post, writing, \”I happened to see it. Let’s move forward together to win the local elections.\”
