[Digital Today reporter Lee Jin-ho] Lim Gwang-gi, a former SBS editorial columnist, has been named chairman of the Korea TV Home Shopping Association.
On the 27th, the association finalized Lim’s appointment following votes by its board and general meeting. His three-year term begins May 6.
Lim graduated from Chung-Ang University’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and completed graduate work there. He was also a visiting scholar at North Carolina State University. Entering journalism in 1987, he served as head of new media at SBS, director of election broadcast planning, and editorial columnist.
In 1996, his in-depth reporting on illegal fetal sex determination at obstetrics clinics earned him the Korean Journalists Association’s Reporter of the Month award and the Korea Broadcasting Award for reporting. From 2019 to 2021, he served as director of National Assembly Broadcasting, where he helped strengthen programming and improve the channel’s image. After retiring, he taught at Ewha Womans University’s Journalism School.
Most recently, Lim served as vice chairman of Financial Today, maintaining an active role across the media sector.
The Korea TV Home Shopping Association is a nonprofit corporation registered with the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Committee.
