Pelicana, a chicken franchise, removed an online advertisement created with artificial intelligence after viewers criticized it for making light of infidelity. The company has issued a public apology.
On May 10, Pelicana posted on its official Instagram account: “We sincerely apologize for the discomfort and disappointment caused by recently uploaded content.” The statement added that the company had failed to fully consider the appropriateness of the expression and its social implications. “We take this matter seriously and will strengthen our internal review processes to prevent similar incidents,” the post said.

The contested clip imagines a world in which a married “fried chicken” couple gives birth to a seasoned-chicken baby. In the short vignette, the husband suspects his wife of an affair. A female doctor who watches the scene then appears to try to seduce him, and the spot ends with the husband bewildered by her persistent advances.
Shortly after it was posted, users on online forums criticized the ad for trivializing infidelity and questioned how it passed internal approval. Many viewers also reacted negatively to the uncanny, artificial quality often associated with AI-generated video.
Pelicana has taken down all versions of the ad.
